Color Wheel

On this blog, I want to share a bit about some of the people I've met along countless journeys. Every bit of me is really the result of listening and talking, learning from them, laughing of course and letting them touch my heart.  I think we all are "given" these people and can choose to treasure the moments we have with them...sometimes moments that pass too quickly...

One such woman was Jean Argus--a strong, creative woman--who lived on a farm nearby our home in Upstate New York. Jean started an organic herbal company--JEAN'S GREENS--that was (and still is) highly respected. I painted a few sprigs of mullein, dandelions, comfrey and other herbs for her note cards. Eventually, Jean retired to enjoy building and living in a yurt, time with family and to enjoy the four seasons on the farm.  One night at dinner, Jean said she wanted to paint and so she came to a few classes. It was the first artwork Jean had done in years...and she fell in love with color. She started to play with fabrics for art quilts instead of painting and apologized for doing so. But I was thrilled. She offered me thanks by designing a color wheel quilt. Not long after, Jean died very suddenly and many people gathered at the farm to celebrate Jean's generous life. Her color wheel still graces my studio door and I will always miss her.
